Discover the Biodiversity at CNC During BioBlitz
WHAT: During BioBlitz, visitors will work with scientists, educators, and naturalists to document biodiversity at Rochester Museum & Science Center’s (RMSC) Cumming Nature Center (CNC). Visitors will spend the day identifying, collecting, and recording as many species of plants and animals as possible throughout the Nature Center’s 900-acre preserve.
BioBlitz combines the fun of a festival with the thrill of scientific endeavor, as participants engage with local scientists, educators, and naturalists to record as many different species as possible in a natural area in one day. Participants will help contribute to our understanding of the CNC landscape and the biodiversity of our region.
Activities will include:
- Hikes led by expert guides to collect field data and identify plant and animal species
- Hands-on activities and citizen science opportunities
- A collaborative art project to help visualize the biodiversity data collected throughout the day
Kid-friendly activities will be available, so pack a picnic and plan to stay for the whole day!
